Choteau is a small rural town in Montana. It sits near the Rocky Mountain Front, and there are great mountain views from the town.

Main street is home to retail shops, bars and restaurants. The town has a population of about 2,000 friendly folk, it is the kind of place that you don’t ever have to lock your doors.

Choteau has two motels, the Big Sky and the Gunther, and one inn, the Stage Stop Inn.

For eating out, there is the Log Cabin, which has a very extensive and tasty menu (really amazing pie). It is however BYO for alcohol.  There is also John Henry’s, which serves a great and varied menu with especially great pizza (that is available for take out). Another option, the Elk Country Grill, is well known for it’s great steaks and “home made” pie.  all three are open for dinner and lunch.  The Log Cabin and John Henry's are also open for breakfast.

There are three great coffee shops. Kelli Joe's is open late until 11pm and midnight on Friday and Saturday, the drive through at Grizzly Sports is open from 7 am till 5 pm, and Maddimo & Co. is open during week days.

The town has four bars, the Antler, The Wagon Wheel, the Legion and a new bar at the Stage Stop Inn. They all have various entertainment on during the weekends, and are great places to hang out, and meet the very friendly locals, after a hard day on the mountain.

There is also a great breakfast joint called the “Outpost Deli” where you can get a great fry up, and hot coffee. They are also open for lunch.

There are several retail stores, such as Buck’s Sporting Goods, Grizzly Sports (which has a great drive thru espresso window, get your ammo and a coffee to go, try a double shot “grizzly” it should be world famous), and the Trading Post (all kinds of clothing and footwear).  Exxon, the gas station in town, does great subs, and pizza’s to go, and is also the local video store.  There are two grociery stores in town - Rex's and Mountain Front Market. Other town amenities include a drug store and a 24 hour laundry mat.

There is also a bowling alley “The Alley Cat”, and the Roxy, the local 360 seat movie theater, which has all the latest releases -- tickets are only $6!

There is also a great hospital, local General Practice doctors and dentists, post office, and several hair salons, antique stores and many more.

You will find that your money goes so much further in Choteau, compared to bigger ski towns.
