Choteau is a small rural town in Montana, it sits near the Rocky Mountain front, and there are great mountain views from the town.

Main street is home to the retail shops, bars and restaurants. The town has a population of about 2,000 friendly folk, it is the kind of place that you don’t ever have to lock your doors.

Choteau has two motels, the Big Sky and the Gunther, and one inn, the Stage Stop Inn.

For eating out, there is the Log Cabin which has a very extensive and tasty menu (really amazing pie) , it is however BYO for alcohol, John Henry’s serves a great and varied menu with especially great pizza, which is also available takeaway, and last but not least The Elk Country Grill which is well known for it’s great steaks and “home made” pie, all three are open for dinner and lunch, and John Henry’s is open for breakfast as well.

There are two great coffee shops. “Bridges” is open late until 11pm and midnight on Friday and Saturday, and the drive through at Grizzly Sports is open from 7 am till 5 pm.

The town has four bars, the Antler, The Wagon Wheel, the Legion and a new bar at the Stage Stop Inn, they all have various entertainment on during the weekends, and are great places to hang out, and meet the very friendly locals, after a hard day on the mountain.

There is also a great breakfast joint called the “Outpost Deli” where you can get a great fry up, and hot coffee, for just a few bucks, they are also open for lunch.

There are a bunch of retail stores, such as Buck’s Sporting Goods, Grizzly Sports (which has a great drive thru expresso window, get your ammo and a coffee to go, try a double shot “grizzly” it should be world famous), the Trading Post (all kinds of clothing and footwear), the gas station in town does great subs, and pizza’s to go, and is also the local video store, there is a really nice ice cream parlor, and there is a great supermarket in town called Rex’s, as well as an awesome whole foods market, and a very extensive Drug Store, along with a 24 hour laundromat.

There is also a bowling alley “The Alley Cat”, and the Roxy the local 360 seat movie theater, which has all the latest releases showing, and the best thing is tickets are only $6.

There is also a great hospital, local General Practice doctors and dentists, post office, and several hair salons, antique stores and many more.

You will find that your money goes so much further in Choteau, compared to bigger ski towns.
